Glazed by: Helen Ratcliffe
Dan Pearson is a British landscape designer, horticulturalist, writer and gardener. He was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours in 2022. His work is characterised by an innate sensitivity to place, an intuitive and light-handed approach to design, bold and painterly naturalistic plantings and deep-rooted horticultural knowledge.
Dan is an honorary fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (Hon FRIBA) and a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) and a Fellow of the Society of Garden Designers (MSGD). He has been garden-designer-in-chief at Lowther Castle & Gardens since 2012.
The design of Dan’s daffodil is based on the concept behind The Rose Garden at Lowther. Following the profile of a rose, the garden is laid out in borders shaped like petals. The pink trumpet represents the principal rose colour.
Proceeds from the sale of Dan’s daffodil will go towards James’ Place.
